Tag: TMI vs. TID

Hey guys! So today I’m going to be doing a tag which I was not tagged in… story of my life. Anyway, yeah, a lot of you will probably already know that I’m a major Shadowhunter fangirl, so when I found out that this tag was a thing, I knew I needed to do it. Just so you know, this post will have a lot of spoilers for The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare… I suggest you leave this post if you haven’t finished both series’!

This was originally created by Samantha’s Books, so definitely go check out her YouTube channel because this tag is bomb ❤ So.. let’s get going with this tag!

Favourite main character: Clary or Tessa?

Tessa, for sure! I mean, Clary’s ability to draw ruins is cool… but Tessa is a shapeshifting immortal, so 1-0 to TID. Plus, Clary makes so many reckless decisions, she actually hurts my head sometimes.

Favourite Herondale: Jace or Will?

This one is so incredibly difficult because Will and Jace scored first and second on my Book Boyfriends list but I’m ultimately having to go with Will. As much as I adore Jace, I cherish no literary character higher than my dear William Herondale.

Favourite love triangle: Simon/Clary/Jace or Will/Tessa/Jem?

Aha… only one of these is technically a real love triangle. It was so clear that Simon and Clary wouldn’t end up together, what a wee shame for Simon. Oh well, TID wins another one because Will/Tessa/Jem is the saddest yet most satisfying love triangle I have ever experienced.

Better villain: Sebastian or the Magister?

And we finally have one point for TMI!!! Sebastian is a way better villain than Mortmain. I mean, Sebastian is pure evil down to the core and Mortmain… well, he’s just a wannabe. Amiright?

Better army: The Dark Army or The Clockwork Army?

This is another incredibly difficult one because both of these armies are equally scary and lethal. I would hate to be attacked by the “dark” version of someone I love in Sebastian’s Army, but equally I wouldn’t want to be attacked by an un-killable robot demon hybrid thing. If we’re going by which army is strongest, then I’d probably need to give the point to TID because those automatons are scary and lethal af but I also wouldn’t want to come up against the dark army either (maybe half a point each?).

Better first book: City of Bones or Clockwork Angel?

Clockwork Angel, without a doubt. I got so obsessed after reading the first TID that I marathoned all of them before going back to TMI. It actually took me six months to finally read City of Fallen Angels after TID, I JUST COULDN’T AFTER THAT CLOCKWORK PRINCESS EPILOGUE OK.

Better female sidekick: Isabelle Lightwood or Cecily Herondale?

This one’s definitely going to need to be Isabelle. We see way more of her throughout TMI than we see of Cecily, and I just love Izzy a good old bit more. She’s such a badass (not that Cecily isn’t but you get me).

Better setting: The New York Institute or The London Institute?

As much as I want to say the London Institute, I would freaking love to live in New York. Plus, I’m not sure how well I’d do in the 1800s with no woman rights, technology etc.

Better last book: City of Heavenly Fire or Clockwork Princess?

Clockwork Princess, ALWAYS. This book broke my heart and put it back together, then broke it again about 298757864279586970458904685 times. I do love City of Heavenly Fire as well though, but it wasn’t as fast paced as CP.

Better final epilogue: City of Heavenly Fire or Clockwork Princess?

Ahem, Clockwork Princess… again. I have never cried more at a book than I did at this epilogue. Although I didn’t exactly have a favourite between Will and Jem before, after reading this epilogue I realised that I was Will all the way and hearing about his life, then his death literally killed me. I was so upset about it for days, but I was also super happy for Jem. God damn Cassandra Clare, you really know how to evoke the feels.

So.. if my calculations are correct then the final results are:

6.5 TID – 3.5 TMI

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised. As much as I love TMI, TID is a complete knock out and the superior series in my eyes. But to be honest, I still give both series’ 5/5 starts because I love the Shadowhunter universe endlessly ❤ ➰

I Tag…

I tried to tag people who I think have actually read TMI and TID, but sorry if I’ve tagged you and you haven’t! Also, even if I’ve not tagged you, feel free to do it anyway 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the tag guys! 🙂 Omg, I got my first Fairy Loot box in the mail yesterday and absolutely freaking loved it. I loved it so much that I went straight on and ordered next month’s haha, I might do an unboxing for that when it comes! Did any of you also get it this month?

I’m actually looking for my reading buddy, so if you know anyone with the #fairylootpegasus hashtag, let me know! 🙂

  1. I haven’t read either series unfortunately! I started reading TMI a few years ago but I couldn’t get into it for some reason. I might have to give it another go 🙂 thank you very much for tagging me, I enjoyed reading your answers! xxx
