Sunday Post: 17th April 2016

Hello fellow book lovers :) I’m back with another weekly wrap up post!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme created and hosted by Kimberly, over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Go check out her blog and spread the bookish love!

Personal Update…

Ahhh, I’m super happy because I’ve just found out that I’m exempt from three of my exams because I scored high enough in my coursework throughout the year! I’m waiting to hear back about two more of my subjects but I’m still ecstatic about the three I’ve already got! I’m also going to see Counterfeit and 5 Seconds of Summer this week which will be fun 🙂

Currently Reading…

The Mine (Northwest Passage #1) by John A. Heldt

I’ve hardly been reading this week which is disappointing but I hope to finish this one at some point next week – I’m kind of busy at the moment though.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

19353394In May 2000, Joel Smith is a cocky, adventurous young man who sees the world as his playground. But when the college senior, days from graduation, enters an abandoned Montana mine, he discovers the price of reckless curiosity. He emerges in May 1941 with a cell phone he can’t use, money he can’t spend, and little but his wits to guide his way. Stuck in the age of swing dancing and a peacetime draft, Joel begins a new life as the nation drifts toward war. With the help of his 21-year-old trailblazing grandmother and her friends, he finds his place in a world he knew only from movies and books. But when an opportunity comes to return to the present, Joel must decide whether to leave his new love in the past or choose a course that will alter their lives forever. THE MINE follows a humbled man through a critical time in history as he adjusts to new surroundings and wrestles with the knowledge of things to come.

What I Want To Read Next…

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I’ve been meaning to read this book since I finished Fangirl last year but I’ve just never gotten around to it. I’ve heard good things though, and I’m excited about it 🙂

Synopsis from Goodreads

1429820340604Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest, and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he’ll be safe. Simon can’t even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can’t stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you’re the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything.

Favourite Songs This Week…

As you’ll find out in the next little section of this post, I’m ridiculously obsessed with the TV show Reign right now, and Scotland by The Lumineers is its theme song. This song is kind of underrated and understated, I just love it. Also, Cheap Thrills by Sia has been stuck in my head all week. Damn these catchy pop songs.

TV Show Recommendation…

This series has been in my suggested watches on Netflix for ages now and I wish I had watched it sooner, I am so obsessed with it. This series follows the life of Mary, Queen of Scots in her formative years spent in France. If you don’t know, I’m Scottish so I felt an even stronger connection to Mary than some others might.

I love historical fiction shows and this one in particular because it’s aimed at young adults. The main highlight for me is Toby Regbo as Francis… (I may be slightly obsessed with him now and he may be the screensaver on my phone). I totally fell in love with the character he played and I’ll ship him and Mary forever!

This show isn’t exactly historically accurate and it’s a bit silly but I still love it – it’s fun.

Next Week’s Planned Blog Posts…

I actually can’t promise that I’ll have much up next week because I have a few loose ends to tie up with uni, and an exam. Hopefully I’ll have my review of The Mine up though, and maybe a First Lines Friday 🙂

So, that’s my week for you! Hope you’ve had a great week and keep an eye out for my upcoming posts 🙂
