Sunday Post: 10th April 2016

Hello lovelies 🙂 I’m back with another weekly wrap up post!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme created and hosted by Kimberly, over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Go check out her blog if you get a minute!

Personal Update…

Nothing much has been happening with me this week, I’ve just been enjoying the time off from uni. I did finally read Lady Midnight though, and that was absolutely crazy! So many emotions, I can’t even. Like, I seriously C A N ‘ T E V E N.

Currently Reading…

The Mine (Northwest Passage #1) by John A. Heldt

I was sent this book from the author for an honest review. I’ve not actually read too much of this so I don’t have an opinion yet, but the premise of this story is interesting so I’m excited to see what’s to come. I’ll have a review of this up soonish hopefully, so if you’re interested then definitely keep an eye out for that!

Synopsis from Goodreads:

19353394In May 2000, Joel Smith is a cocky, adventurous young man who sees the world as his playground. But when the college senior, days from graduation, enters an abandoned Montana mine, he discovers the price of reckless curiosity. He emerges in May 1941 with a cell phone he can’t use, money he can’t spend, and little but his wits to guide his way. Stuck in the age of swing dancing and a peacetime draft, Joel begins a new life as the nation drifts toward war. With the help of his 21-year-old trailblazing grandmother and her friends, he finds his place in a world he knew only from movies and books. But when an opportunity comes to return to the present, Joel must decide whether to leave his new love in the past or choose a course that will alter their lives forever. THE MINE follows a humbled man through a critical time in history as he adjusts to new surroundings and wrestles with the knowledge of things to come.

What I Want To Read Next…

A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2) by V.E. Schwab

This was my “What I Want To Read Next” book last week as well, but after I read Lady Midnight I decided to pick up The Mine instead. So I will definitely be getting around to this one as soon as I’m finished!

Synopsis from Goodreads:

A Gathering of Shadows FinalFour months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London.

In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravagant international competition of magic, meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries—a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.

But while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life, and those who were thought to be forever gone have returned. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night reappears in the morning, and so it seems Black London has risen again—meaning that another London must fall.

Favourite Songs This Week…

Here’s a few songs which I’ve been absolutely obsessed with for the past week:

Aha.. I’ve clearly been listening to a few movie soundtracks recently. I’ve been in a major Twilight mood this week which explains Eyes On Fire by Blue Foundation (yes, I still love Twilight #TWIHARD4LYF). The others are exceptionally good songs also, so I suggest you check them out too 🙂

TV Show Recommendation…

I watched the first three seasons of this amazing show a while back but then I just stopped watching it for a while (for absolutely no good reason). This is a show about a guy named Mike who got kicked out of university for doing something a bit shady, but ends up working at an amazing law firm anyway. The show is currently on its fifth season, I believe, and I’ve just finished season four. This show is great and can be enjoyed by anyone, even if you’re not super into law issues etc. I highly recommend this series if you’re looking for something new to binge watch (and the first four seasons are on Netflix, yasssss).
